Squaxin Island Tribe Acquires Harmony Farms, Expanding Control Across Cannabis Production and Retail in Washington
May 4, 2026
KAMILCHE, WA
Island Enterprises Inc., the economic arm of the Squaxin Island Tribe, today announced the acquisition of Harmony Farms, a cannabis producer and processor based in Lacey, Washington, marking a significant step in the Tribe’s strategy to strengthen its presence across cultivation, processing, and retail in Washington’s competitive cannabis market.
The acquisition brings Harmony Farms into the Tribe’s cannabis portfolio alongside Native Sun Grown and Elevation Dispensaries. Together, these operations create a more integrated and resilient business designed to improve consistency, strengthen supply, expand product availability, and better serve retail partners across Washington state.
Founded in 2015, Harmony Farms has built longstanding credibility in Washington’s cannabis market through dependable products, established retail relationships, and experienced operations.
“Harmony brings extensive processing expertise and a passionate team,” said Jennifer Hines, Chief Operating Officer. “Combined with Native Sun Grown’s cultivation capabilities, this gives us greater control over how products are grown, processed, and brought to market, which is critical if we want to thrive in this industry.”
The acquisition formalizes a relationship that has already delivered value for both organizations. For years, Native Sun Grown supplied biomass for Harmony Farms’ extraction operations, while Harmony helped bring Native Sun Grown products to market. That relationship revealed a strong operational fit and a shared opportunity to build something more integrated, more durable, and better positioned for the future.
The move also reflects broader conditions in Washington’s cannabis industry, where tight margins and sustained competition have challenged operators across the state.
“Washington’s cannabis market has humbled a lot of people,” said Nicholas Browne, Director of Cannabis for Island Enterprises. “You do not build something by cutting corners. You build it through discipline and strong partnerships. Bringing Harmony into the fold strengthens our foundation so the Tribe can realize its mission.”
For retail partners, the message is clear: Harmony Farms will continue operating under its current name, preserving the brand recognition and relationships it has built over the last decade. Retailers can expect continued consistency, dependable fulfillment, and broader category opportunities over time.
This acquisition also marks a significant next step in the Tribe’s larger vision for Tribal enterprise. In 2015, Elevation became the first recreational cannabis dispensary to operate on federal land in the United States. In 2017, the Tribe launched Native Sun Grown, Washington’s first Tribal cannabis farm. With the addition of Harmony Farms, the Tribe is continuing to invest in the infrastructure, capability, and staying power needed to lead in cannabis for the long haul.
“This is the first step in the next phase of our cannabis business,” said Daniel Kuntz, Vice Chairman of the Island Enterprises Board. “This investment gives these businesses the support they needed and gives the Tribe more ability to shape what comes next — so the impact of that work reaches outward.”
For the Squaxin Island Tribe, this moment is about building businesses with the strength to endure, compete, and create value that carries forward into the future.
